Alabama’s Wine Festival
Alabama’s Wine Festival is an annual celebration of local flavors held at Wills Creek Winery in Attalla, Alabama. Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, the picturesque winery serves as the perfect backdrop for this spirited event.

Attendees can sample a variety of wines and purchase their favorites by the bottle or glass. The festival also features delicious offerings from food vendors and live music, creating a fun and festive atmosphere for all to enjoy.
Alabama’s First Wine Festival
The first annual Alabama Wine Festival was held in October 2021 and was a huge success, with more than 250 people in attendance who were able to sample more than 40 different wines produced in Alabama.

Admission to the adults-only event included a commemorative wine glass that attendees used to sample everything from apple wines to scuppernong wines.

Six wineries from across the state of Alabama were present to offer wine samples and to sell their locally crafted wines. The wineries included:
- High Country Cellars (Heflin)
- Maraella Vineyards (Hokes Bluff)
- Robyns Garden (Huntsville)
- Whippoorwill (Notasulga)
- Tiss Valley Winery (Midway)
- Wills Creek Vineyards (Attalla)


Wine Festival Cost
Tickets for the annual wine festival were as follows:
- Advanced purchase ticket: $30
- Tickets at the gate: $40
- Designated Driver Tickets are free at the gate. The designated driver must be at least 21 years of age.

Wine Festival Hours
The inaugural festival spanned two days, running from noon until 4:00 pm on both days, providing plenty of time for attendees to sample all the wines. Now a one-day event, it’s essential for attendees to arrive early to ensure they have enough time to discover their new favorites.

Prior to October 2021, it was illegal for winemakers to sell directly their products at festivals to consumers.
In May 2021, Governor Kay Ivey signed the “wine festival bill” (S.B. 167) into law. This act allows wineries in the state to host special wine festivals or large tasting events without going through a distributor.
Starting August 1, 2021, it became legal for wineries to ship directly to Alabama residences. If you can’t find what you are looking for at your local grocery or ABC store, contact the winery through its website to make a purchase.
